Men in Kilts Is Bringing Scotland to Starz

If you’ve been an Outlander fan for any length of time, chances are you’ve visited Scotland. You’ve seen Culloden and done an embarrassing photo shoot at Doune Castle. You’ve searched the pubs for be-kilted highlanders. But you haven’t seen Scotland with two of your fave Scots, and you definitely didn’t see any men in kilts worth writing home about. Now you can.

Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish are bringing a buddy comedy plus travel show to STARZ this fall with the eight-episode docuseries Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham. I personally could not be more chuffed. Look at this picturesque shit.

Announcing the show today on Good Morning America, Graham said Men in Kilts is a passion project that has allowed them explore the character of Scotland, its history and culture. According to the little teaser trailer, they are doing this fantastic feat while riding tandem bikes, driving an RV, and traipsing about in a sharky sidecar sitch. This could not be cuter.

We Miss Scotland

The sad truth is that Scotland is one of our favorite places to visit, and we can’t go there now, so a travel show that highlights all the places we love, while learning more about its history while ALSO making much of how totally goofy Sam and Graham are in real life is the perfect palliative for our lockdown life.

The last time I was in Scotland, I met several Scottish dudes and none of them were this cute, and NONE of them were doing photoshoots at Clava Cairns. (Actually that’s not true. We met a very cute, very tall ginger young man at a petrol station in the highlands who helped us with our battery and wore the hell out of some warm Patagonia. No tweed in sight, but adorable nonetheless. God, I miss Scotland.)

And despite the fact that they aren’t actually wearing kilts in any of the promo shots, I would like to take this moment to thank Starz for changing the title of this from Clanlands to its present iteration: Men in Kilts. I mean, you didn’t actually reach very far for that one, but at least you read the room this time.
