All of May’s Romance Books to Add to Your TBR List

Heidi is currently obsessed with watching people make bad decisions…
Sweet, sweet May is nearly here with its promise of sun-drenched days and perfect beach reads. If April’s romance books brought showers of feels, May’s romance books bring the heat. Long live, sprummer.
Here are a few of the new romance books releasing in May for you to add to your TBR list immediately.
The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren
Jess, a single mom who lives with her grandparents and owns her own data and statistics company, doesn’t have time to date. So when an opportunity comes up to be matched by DNA with her soulmate she submits her spit on a whim. When she gets matched with the hot doctor behind the whole company things get dicey…and spicy.
Yes, if you’ve recently watched The One on Netflix the premise will feel familiar. And yes, I skimmed a lot of the nerdy statistics talk. But, the characters are great and I enjoyed reading the way they found themselves and each other, immensely. Plus, in true CLo fashion, the side characters are just as endearing and hilarious as the main characters.
As someone who has read every Christina Lauren book ever, this one brings back a lot of the old feels.

People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
In People We Meet on Vacation, Poppy and Alex have been best friends and complete opposites since college. They’ve vacationed together all over the world, but then something happened two years ago that ruined everything. Now Poppy has one week in Palm Springs to fix everything or lose Alex forever.
People We Meet on Vacation is a story about missed opportunities, getting in your own way, friends to lovers, and just really great.
Please, Emily, may I have some more?

It Had to Be You by Georgia Clark
It Had to Be You is an ensemble romance that centers around the employees of an NYC wedding planning company. Of course, the wedding planning company is owned by a recently widowed woman and her recently deceased husband’s much younger, much blonder girlfriend…because he left her his half of the company in his will.
From post-divorce to bi-curious romance, all the way to a secret relationship with a movie star, this book has a little something for everyone.
If you liked watching Love Actually, you’ll want to pre-order It Had to Be You before it releases on May 4th.
Wild Love by Lauren Accardo
When Sydney’s life in NYC falls apart she escapes to upstate New York to help her mom save her small bookstore. Of course, the first person she meets is Sam, the bearded, grumpy stranger who thinks she’s vapid. Romance ensues.
Basically, if you’re looking for a classic “city girl leaves NYC heartbroken to heal in her small hometown where she falls in love with a super hot guy with a beard” trope, here it is.
This was just a fun ride all around. Classic romance with a hot lead and a ton of baggage. Who could pass that up?
Pre-order Wild Love before it releases on May 25th.
The Invisible Husband of Frick Island by Colleen Oakley
Piper Parrish has a perfect life on a tiny island in the Chesapeake Bay except for the fact that her husband died and she acts like he’s still around. Like, she talks to him at dinner and waves goodbye to him when he would usually go to work. It doesn’t help things that the rest of the tiny island’s community plays along.
When small-town reporter, Anders stumbles upon this story of a lifetime, he can’t help but pursue it. However, what happens when he falls in love with the island, its inhabitants, and maybe even Piper herself?
This sweet read is part tragedy, part mystery, and a whole lot of heart.
