Bachelor Nation made waves today with the announcement of the next Bachelorette, Clare Crawley. I’m already as invested in her season as Juan Pablo was into himself.
If your first instinct is, “Who, and how, and why?” I’m here for you.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new Bachelorette, Clare Crawley
She Remembers the 1990’s
Don’t let Clare’s flawless skin and physique fool you. The never-married hairstylist from Sacramento just turned 38 years-old. When the average age of Bachelor contestants has been approximately 15 months old for the past several seasons, this can seem shocking. But, consider this, she has probably voted in more than one presidential election. Sure, if she decides to have children in the future they’ll call her geriatric, but I’m willing to take the slight in favor someone who is genuinely ready to settle down. Hopefully with someone incredibly hot and age appropriate.
She Has Earned Her Place
Some people will argue that Clare has had enough chances on various Bachelor franchises. Those people are wrong. Okay, yes, she was runner-up on Juan Pablo’s season of The Bachelor, visited Paradise in season 1 and 2, and even got engaged to that French Canadian guy at Winter Games. However, did you not read what I said about having to date Juan Pablo? She earned it.
Production Loves Her
If we learned anything from Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor it’s that we get truly fantastic television when the lead is in on the joke. You know how we are all sick of Peter being terrible on this season? It’s because he has fully bought into the experiment. Clare won’t. Clare will know that it’s a TV show with ratings it has to hit – so we’ll get the drama we want, but she’ll also be on the look out for what is real amongst all the fake. We’re going to get a love story.
Think of the Cast
Rumor has it that the cast is undergoing a quick shift from under 30 and under-employed to over 30 and single parents. Give me a 37 year-old man with a beard who loves his kids and I will tattoo his name on my body. This is what
my fantasies The Bachelorette has been lacking for years.
The Bachelor is back tonight with the Women Tell All special, but for now we’ll just keep riding this high. What do you think of this announcement Bachelor Nation?
Heidi is currently obsessed with watching people make bad decisions on TV, being a coastal elite, artificially avoiding any sign of aging, reading feminist romance novels, and getting the biggest laugh at her own expense. She has a husband, 3 kids, a dog and anxiety.
